about
White Knuckles is the third and final single from Slow Pass' debut EP "High-Pass," out September 17th, 2021. Recorded almost entirely by Ben and Adam at Ben's home studio, White Knuckles is the most recently written/recorded and most fully formed Slow Pass song to date. With the driving drum groove leading up to the final vocoder-tinged vocal refrain at the end, White Knuckles is a song meant to be listened to loud with the windows down.
lyrics
Sit down
Tell me at the top of your lungs
What is on your mind
Tell me more
As if I haven’t heard it before
I wanna know all of your tendencies
When you fall apart
Tell me what it’s like
To deny, to conspire, against my life
Tell me how do you know that you’re always right?
Tell me what excites
A man who never hears a thing about the other side
When the old road and the new road meet
The construction’s bound to cause some heat
Oh yeah
I think I’ve heard that before
My love is growing old
For others that don’t
That can’t even feel
I can’t do it no more
Pretend I don’t hear
Living in fear
Foggy window night
Driving 20 in a 45
White knuckles on the wheel
I came to be real
But what’s real anyway
Take a look back at the way you see yourself
Are you in perfect health?
How do you feel that your care is based on your wealth
You can call me a sore winner
Cause I’ve been losing since before time
Excuse me, if I’m unable
To swallow my pride
Big city swagger with a small town mouth
I know, we hit you where it counts
But I know you can’t count
You try to sweet talk everyone
No, you’re the only one
Hiding out behind it all
Saying it’s not your fault
But you’re only half right
My love is growing old
For others that don’t
That can’t even feel
I can’t do it no more
Pretend I don’t hear
Living in fear
Foggy window night
Driving 20 in a 45
Wonder if I’m still alive
Cause now I’m driving for my life with
White knuckles on the wheel
I came to be real
But what’s real anyway
Going 20 in a 45
Going 20, driving for my life
Going 20 in a 45
Going 20, driving just to survive
Going 20, in a 45
Going 20, how’d I get this high?
Going 20 in a 45
Going 20, driving just to survive
